The Girls Competition
Important Update For 2026
The CyberFirst Girls Competition is now known nationally as the TechFirst Girls Competition.
While you’ll see the new TechFirst branding across UK-wide competition materials, schools and colleges in Wales will continue to be supported by the CyberFirst Wales team.
If you’re based in Wales, all enquiries, support requests and communications should still come directly to us. We’re here to help you register, answer questions and support your learners throughout the competition.
What is the Competition?
Each autumn, hundreds of schools across the UK enter teams of Year 8 girls into the TechFirst Girls Competition – a fun, free challenge designed to spark interest in technology and encourage more girls to explore computing, cyber and digital careers.
In Wales, the competition continues to be delivered and supported by CyberFirst Wales, ensuring schools, teachers and learners receive local support every step of the way.
No experience is needed. Teachers and learners don’t need any prior knowledge, and schools can enter as many teams as they like. It can run in class or as a club activity to fit around school timetables.
